Make your
own tea light holder with FIMO! The ideal craft project for the upcoming autumn
season!
What do you need?
- Fimo clay,
- Clay roller,
- Baking paper,
- Over-proof glass for the tea light (approx. 5cm diameter),
- Cutting dies (approx. 10cm diameter)
How do you start with this?
- Cut two strips from the desired FIMO soft colours and cut them into many small pieces/confetti with a knife.
- Roll out a block of white FIMO soft with the acrylic roller into an approx. 3mm think slice and place it on a piece of baking paper.
- Sprinkle the confetti irregularly on the white FIMO slice. Let the colours overlap for a nice effect.
- Using a rolling pin, roll over it with gentle pressure until the coloures confetti are merged with the white FIMO slice. This goes especially well if you put a piece of baking paper on top.
- Using a large round cut-out, cut out a large circle and remove the remains.
- Knead the removed scraps into a strand and roll it out with the acrylic roller into an approx. 3cm wide strip. Now sprinkle a few confetti pieces on this FIMO strip as well and roll over it with gentle pressure using the rolling pin.
- Place the strip around the tea-light glass, pressing the clay gently. Cut the edges straight and smooth the seam with a modelling spatula. Roll the glass back and forth on your work surface with light pressure so that the FIMO bonds well with the glass.
- Harden the circle and the rimmed tea-light glass for 30 minutes in a preheated oven at 110°C with top/bottom heat. Let everything cool down well.
- Now you can place a small tea light in it and admire the beautiful reflection of your homemade artwork.
